Why the Name ‘Good Friday’!!
February 29, 2008
We all know very well that Christmas is the day when the almighty God of Heaven and Earth came in the form of a human being to this small planet ‘Earth’.
Now Good Friday is the day in which, Lord Jesus Christ who was born on Christmas day died a cruel death on the cross. Having undergone such a cruel death on this day 2000 years ago, how could the people then dare to call it as a ‘Good’ Friday. Does this question spring like a gush of water within you? No doubt about it and it is quite natural for any one to think like that. Now we will try to find out some truth on this whether the people who named it were wrong or is there really some significance in the name ‘Good Friday’.
Let us see what the Bible says in the Old Testament (written before the coming of Jesus) about the purpose of Jesus to come into this wretched world.
“Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; even though we thought he was being punished and afflicted for something he had done.He was wounded for our ansgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his wounds we are healed”
From the above scriptures we can well understand that Jesus came to save the world. In order to save the world, He has to undertake a very difficult path that is nothing but the cross. And in that cross, he took all of our sins on himself and died for us.
In continuation of the above, we read in the New Testament (written after the death and resurrection of Jesus).
“ The Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin ”.
Irrespective of caste, creed or religion, the death of Jesus Christ is for the entire mankind. Anyone who believes and confesses his sins and accepts Jesus Christ as his /her personal saviour, he can truly enjoy a personal relationship with God. And also, he or she receives a hope to live eternally with this loving God.
Having understood the fact, please decide for yourself whether the day is to be called as Good or Bad….
Have a meaningful Good Friday and a wonderful Easter (The Day Jesus resurrected from the dead)

Praise the Lord Jesus,
He suffered for our sin. He was crucified no fault of him, even then he suffered all for us so that the mankind would be saved and lead a peacesful life as jesus wished. Think, once whether we are leading the life as he wished. Ask yourself and bear in mind about the sufferings of jesus…….One will get the answer for this question. If you get the answer….from your inner soul…lead the life as he wished.

Glory be to the name of the llORD
Really when I think about the love of Christ i cannot stop my eyes from the fountain of waters because for me or for such a girl who is useless ,unworthy , good for nothing, dust of the doormat he has given his sucha precious life .And more over this passage has once again made me to understand how wreched iam .
so my dear friends don’t consider the death of Christ as a silly matter

You are right, the fountains of tears, a language only God realy understands. I know and experience it. espescially the last two tears since I gave it ALL to Him. An old soldier for eleven years I’ve spent on the killing fields 1976-1987… I felt like you say, useles, good for nothing, dust of the doormat and GODLESS…
Since that has changed my while life has changed, like you say, a precious life…
Thank you for your words of honesty and wisdom, it has meant a lot to an old soldier that was sure that hell is the only place left…
We will be with our Lord, our Saviour for ever, only He is the Prince of Peace that understands a wretch like me and you…
Glory to His name!
God Bless you!
Kind regards,
Derek.
